Over 1 million providers trust doxy.me.

See why.

The short answer

Patients check in using your doxy.me link and wait for you to start the appointment. They meet with you in their browser, without creating an account or downloading an app.

When you’re evaluating a telehealth platform, seeing the patient’s side can answer questions a provider demo leaves open.

Here’s a walkthrough of the experience, from the invitation to the end of the call.

01

The invitation tells them where to go

The visit starts with the room link you share. Patients can open it from an email, text, or appointment message to reach your check-in page.

Put the appointment date, time, and time zone alongside the link. A short instruction helps too: “Open this link a few minutes before your appointment and follow the steps to check in.”

That gives patients a clear place to go without wondering whether they need a separate login or meeting invitation.

If someone would like more guidance, share the doxy.me patient quickstart guide before their visit.

02

Check-in leads to the waiting room

Patients enter their name and follow the on-screen instructions to allow access to their camera and microphone. Depending on your room settings, they may also see additional prompts, such as a passcode.

Once they’ve checked in, they enter your waiting room, and you’ll see they’ve arrived.

In the Default Waiting Room, patients see helpful telehealth tips. If you’ve created a Custom Waiting Room, they’ll see the information you’ve added about you and your practice, such as a welcome message, introduction, or appointment instructions.

Their video preview also lets them check how they’ll appear on camera before the appointment begins.

03

The session experience for patients

When you begin the call, the patient sees you on screen. Doxy.me’s layout adapts to their device, whether they’re joining from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.

During the appointment, patients see and hear you on screen, with controls to mute their microphone, turn their camera on or off, and send you a chat message. When you ask them to, they can also share their screen.

You can bring more interaction into the visit with apps such as CBT Activities, which let you work through exercises together, or Teleconsent, which lets you review and sign consent documents with your patient during the call.

If you use Scribe to automatically transcribe the session and create draft notes, patients see an indicator that transcription is taking place.

04

The closing screen confirms the visit ended

When the call ends, patients see a closing message confirming that their session is over, with an option to reconnect if needed.

This standard screen is built into doxy.me, so there’s nothing for your practice to set up.

05

Help patients feel ready for their visit

Doxy.me guides patients through check-in with on-screen instructions, so you don’t have to walk them through each step.

For patients who like to know what to expect, you can share the patient quickstart guide. It walks them through joining, waiting, and meeting with you.

Or send an email or text invitation using Invite Via. These invitations automatically include your room link and a link to the patient guide, giving patients everything in one place.
